Identity Released for Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Vehicle on Belvidere Rd in Park City

Police officers from Park City Police Department and firefighters and paramedics from Gurnee Fire Department responded about 11:36 p.m. Saturday, October 12, 2024, to a report of a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian in the block of 3200 Belvidere Road in Park City, where a number of restaurants are located nearby. Police officers and paramedics discovered a male victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Based on the seriousness of the crash, the Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) of Lake County was requested to assist with the investigation.

Police officers assessed that the driver of a 2016 Honda was traveling eastbound Belvidere Road, in the outside lane when the male pedestrian was truck. The pedestrian, who was wearing all dark clothing, appeared to be crossing the street at the time of the crash. The Honda struck the pedestrian in the outside lane and stopped in the center median.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office was notified and responded to the scene.

The deceased was identified as 53-year-old Steven Crockett of Waukegan. On Tuesday, October 15, 2024, an autopsy was conducted at the Lake County Coroner’s Office. Autopsy results indicate that Mr. Crockett died from Blunt Force Injuries as a result of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Park City Police Department and MCAT.
