Des Plaines Resident Caught on Camera Throwing Pet Bird at the Ground

Police officers from Des Plaines were dispatched about 8:42 p.m. Sunday, September 15, 2024 to a home in the block of 1400 South River Road in Des Plaines. The complainant told police officers that Alan Simmons, age 44, gripped a pet bird in his hand before throwing it at the ground. The impact with the ground has since prevented the bird from being able to fly, according to the Des Plaines Police Department.

The incident was also captured on RING camera, according to the Des Plaines Police Department. Alan Simmons was arrested and charged with animal cruelty.
