Harvard Man Killed in Rollover Ejection Crash on Lawrence Rd Near Harvard, McHenry County

A 40-year-old man from Harvard died this morning as a result of a single vehicle rollover crash.

Emergency personnel from the Harvard Fire Department, MD1, and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded at 9:36 a.m. Tuesday, August 13, 2024 to a single-vehicle fatal crash in the 9900 block of Lawrence Road in unincorporated Harvard.




The driver of a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling southbound in the 9900 block of Lawrence Road when he lost control of his vehicle and exited the roadway to the east. The Jeep rolled over multiple times while continuing to travel in a southern direction, eventually coming to rest in a standing cornfield.

The driver and sole occupant was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time.

The investigation continues by the McHenry County Coroner’s Office and the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Crash Investigation Unit.




Lawrence Road curves in the area, and the crash was located near the north end of the curve. The curve is regulated with a Speed Limit 45 MPH and curve warning sign. The curve is located west of Maxon Road in McHenry County.

MD-1 doctors work alongside first-responders to stabilize patients prior to transfer to an emergency department.
