Schaumburg police are investigating a burglary at Marquise Jewelers, 5 Woodfield Mall, Unit G120 inside Woodfield Mall, which was discovered about 9:30 a.m. on Friday, August 2, 2024. At least six offenders gained entry to the jewelry store after hours by cutting through the drywall of an adjacent vacant retail store unit, according to the Schaumburg Police Department.

Around $1.5 million in jewelry was stolen during the overnight hours of Thursday, August 1, 2024 to Friday, August 2, 2024.

Apparently no burglar alarm was activated, or the alarm communications failed, because the break-in was not discovered until a construction worker entered the vacant space next-door and noticed the damaged drywall at about 9:30 a.m. Friday, August 2, 2024. Schaumburg police indicated that part of the defeat of the security system involved the suspects covering at least one of the store’s surveillance cameras to avoid detection.

An owner said the whole store is equipped with high-tech cases, security systems, cameras — “anything you can imagine.”

The initial investigation indicates that at least six suspects were involved in the commercial burglary at Woodfield Mall. The suspects were described as five male/black suspects and a male/Hispanic.

Schaumburg Police Department detectives are reviewing surveillance images from other video sources in and around Woodfield Mall.

The Schaumburg Police Department urges anyone with information about the burglary to contact the Schaumburg Police Department.
