Police, firefighters and paramedics from Schaumburg responded about 2:47 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2024 to a report of a person shot in the block of 800 South Braintree Drive in Schaumburg.
Police received a report from a worker that a co-worker was shot by a male offender, and that the shooter went back inside a house in the block of 800 South Braintree Drive.
Schaumburg police officers were able to extract the wounded worker and get him to paramedics staged nearby. The shooting victim was transported Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.
There was a crew from the Davey Tree Expert Company working near the house where the shooter retreated. A green Davey Tree Expert Company truck with a wood chipper is at the scene.
Schaumburg police set up a large perimeter, and a NIPAS SWAT response was assigned, including three Bearcat armored vehicles. Snipers also took positions near the house.
Police used a loudspeaker to call a man by name to notify him he was under arrest and that he should come out with hands up.
After a prolonged standoff, a Schaumburg Fire Department ambulance crew drove their ambulance to the front of the house at 7:58 p.m. but no new acting occurred as of 8:30 p.m.
About 9:30 p.m. SWAT personnel walked an adult male in handcuffs to the back of a Schaumburg Fire Department ambulance. The adult male was then transferred to a nearby hospital by paramedics. There may have been other people in the house, also left the house after the standoff ended.
