Chicago resident, Sandra Kolalou, who was convicted of killing her landlord and dismembering her body in October 2022 at her home in West Rogers Park/Arcadia Terrace neighborhood, was sentenced to 58 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections on Wednesday, July 10, 2024.
50 years for murder
6 years for dismemberment
2 years for aggravated identity theft
Kolalou was convicted of murder on April 22, 2024 in Courtroom 306 at Cook County Circuit Court 127 at 2600 South California Avenue in Chicago.
The victim, Frances Walker, age 69, lived on the same floor of the eventual convicted killer. Each unit in the house was secured with locked doors. The victim’s home was set up with individual units. There were apartment units on the top floor, and there was an apartment unit in the basement.
Residents living in the apartment home in the block of 5900 North Washtenaw Avenue heard screaming during the overnight period from Sunday, October 9, 2022 to Monday, October 10, 2022.
Residents immediately tried calling and texting their landlord, Frances Walker. After a day of no replies, police were notified around 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, October 10, 2022 and tenants reported a missing person.
Kolalou used the victim’s credit card to use a tow service to request that her car parked at Foster Beach be towed to a mechanic.
Police discovered bloody rags at Foster Beach based on a tip from other tenants, and then searched Kolalou’s room where blood was discovered.
Police had initially searched the home superficially, but didn’t find anything. There had also been numerous disturbances involving Kolalou and Walker that also involved tenants calling the police to report the disturbances.
Late Monday, October 10, 2022, police discovered some body parts. Frances Walker’s head, arms and legs were found stuffed in a kitchen freezer in the room Kolalou rented.
Sandra L. Kolalou was arrested, and then booked in Cook County Jail on October 13, 2022 (Housing Location Division 8).
