Palatine police officers responded about 10:53 p.m. Sunday July 28, 2024 to a report of a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot at Christ Lutheran Church at 41 South Rohlwing Road in Palatine. When police officers arrived on scene, they discovered a male adult lying on the pavement under a running white Ford F-150. Palatine Fire Department firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene and the male subject was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The victim’s identification is pending further investigation.
The victim had possibly been struggling with a failed relationship.
There was a reported possible fire at the scene, but firefighters on arrival reported no active fire.
Due to the complexity of the scene, Palatine Police requested assistance from the Major Case Assistance Team (MCAT). The results of the joint investigation, combined with video evidence, determined this was an apparent accidental death and no criminal activity was involved. The investigation last overnight.
