The Capitol office of Congressman Brad Schneider in Washington D.C. was vandalized Thursday, July 4, 2024 while the posters of the more than 100 people still held hostage in Gaza (including 8 Americans) were ripped from an office wall, shredded, and tossed across the hallway.

Schneider called the vandalism “a shameful act on any day, but especially on July 4, our country’s Independence Day.”

He also called the behavior a “vile act of hate.”

Sadly, it was but one of many hateful, un-American actions that took place across the country on the day we celebrate freedom and democracy.

Schneider said he’s been disgusted by the videos of people burning American flags, and reports of individuals calling July 4th a “terrorist holiday” . It’s not just happening at my office in Washington, D.C.

Schneider’s home was targeted last weekend at 2:30 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2024 by approximately 50 masked demonstrators, who were banging drums, blowing horns and yelling antisemitic chants. The same groups that were at Schneider’s house earlier in the week marched through Chicago on July 4th, 2024 not calling for peace, but rather condemning the United States of America, Schneider wrote on his official Facebook page.

In Highland Park, Illinois near Schneider’s home, the Highland Park Police Department responded about 2:43 a.m. Saturday to the area of Woodland Road and St. Johns Avenue to a report of noise complaint of people gathering and shouting.

Police officers discovered about 40-50 protesters in the street. The protesters were carrying banners, loudspeakers and drums, and were communicating pro-Palestinian and anti-semitic messages.

Police cleared the scene without incident by about 3:15 a.m., but some people wondered why there were no arrests.

Schneider said, these actions don’t advance peace. Instead, they play directly into the hands of Hamas terrorists enabling them to continue to hold hostage not only those they kidnapped from Israel, but all civilians in Gaza as well.

Brad Schneider Statement

My Capitol office was vandalized yesterday in a vile act of hate in which the posters of the more than 100 people still held hostage in Gaza (including 8 Americans) were ripped from the wall, shredded and tossed across the hallway. This was a shameful act on any day, but especially on July 4, our country’s Independence Day. Sadly, it was but one of many hateful, un-American actions that took place across the country on the day we celebrate freedom and democracy.

I’ve been disgusted by the videos and reports of individuals calling July 4th a “terrorist holiday” and burning American flags. It’s not just happening at my office in Washington, D.C. More than 700 miles from the Capitol, my home was targeted last weekend at 2:30AM by approximately 50 masked demonstrators banging drums, blowing horns and screaming antisemitic chants. The same groups that were at my house earlier in the week marched through Chicago on July 4th, not calling for peace, but rather condemning the United States of America.

These actions don’t advance peace. Instead, they play directly into the hands of Hamas terrorists enabling them to continue to hold hostage not only those they kidnapped from Israel, but all civilians in Gaza as well.
