Police, firefighters, and paramedics from Lake Forest responded about 2:39 a.m. Sunday, June 9, 2024 to a report of a serious crash with entrapment on southbound Route 41 south of Route 60 in Lake Forest.
One male driver was injured.
Police, firefighters and paramedics arrived to discover a crash that would require a prolonged extrication to free the entrapped driver. A Lake Bluff rescue squad was also assigned to the scene.
Lake Forest Fire Department Battalion 42 on arrival reported a vehicle turned to one side, off the road into some trees. One victim was found in the vehicle — conscious and breathing.
The vehicle was up a ridge in an area with woods and brush. The scene was illuminated with portable lighting.
An additional rescue squad from Lake Bluff was assigned to the scene about 3:00 a.m.
The driver was extricated about 3:16 a.m. after firefighters used extrication tools to cut the roof off a silver Chevy Spark.
Lake Forest Police Department is investigating the crash.
There are several curves on US-41 south of IL-60. The Speed Limit on US-41 (Skokie Highway) is 45 MPH, according to Google Maps Street View images captured October 2011 and September 2022.
