Police arrested Aaron Michael Hall-Williams, age 35, at the Endeavor Health Northwest Community Hospital Emergency Room ambulance entrance after his actions caused the closure of the ambulance entrance for one hour, and after he chest-butted a hospital security employee outside at the Ambulance Bay on Friday, May 24, 2024 about 1:35 p.m. Aaron M. Hall-Williams was charged with battery – 720 5/12-3. He was cited and released, according to the Arlington Heights Police Department.

The suspect was involved in a crash in Rolling Meadows immediately prior to the stand-off at the ambulance entrance. Additional criminal history indicates that last August 2023 Aaron M. Hall-Williams was accused of battery to a police officer and causing a disturbance at the scene of a crash in Arlington Heights during his DUI arrest.
Last year on Sunday, August 20, 2023 at about 11:20 a.m. Aaron M. Hall-Williams was driving a 2017 Kia Soul, and was involved a property damage crash on northbound Wilke Road just north of Rand Road in Arlington Heights. When he was being taken into custody at the scene of the crash (arrested for alleged DUI), he caused a disturbance, which required several police officers to respond to the scene. According to a police report, Aaron M. Hall-Williams had glassy, bloodshot eyes, the odor of alcohol emanating from his breath, an open alcoholic beverage in the vehicle, and failed a field sobriety test.

While being place in a holding cell at the Arlington Heights Police Headquarters on August 20, 2023, Aaron M. Hall-Williams allegedly punched an Arlington Heights Police Department sergeant in the chest.
Aaron M. Hall-Williams was held on $1,000 bond before The Safety, Accountability, Fairness and Equity-Today Act, commonly known as the SAFE-T Act, enacted in 2021 by the state of Illinois, and which took effect in full on September 18, 2023. The act is also known as the Pretrial Fairness Act.
A letter was delivered to Aaron M. Hall-Williams (filed in September 2023) at his home in Calumet Park, Illinois to confirm that his driver’s license was suspended October 5, 2023 for a minimum length of 12 months with a Provision Reinstatement Date of October 5, 2024. The suspension was authorized by the Director of the Driver Service Department, Office of the Secretary of State.
As a first time DUI offender in Illinois, Hall-Williams was automatically enrolled in the Secretary of State’s Monitoring Device Driving Permit (MDDP) program. The MDDP allows a suspended driver to drive 24 hours per day, seven days a week as long as a Breath Alcohol Ignition Interlock Device (BAIID) is installed on the vehicle that the suspended driver is driving.
Employment Exemption for BAIID
If a driver needs to drive an employer-owned vehicle during work hours and the vehicle is not specifically assigned to the previously charged alleged DUI driver, the driver may be eligible for an employer exemption. While a BAIID is required to a personal vehicle, the MDDP would allow the driver to drive an employer-owned vehicle without a BAIID during work hours. The exemption is not available for the self-employed, or for drivers that work for an immediate family member, or for use with employer-owned vehicles that are available for personal use.
At the time of publishing this CARDINAL NEWS report, it was unknown whether Aaron M. Hall-Williams successfully applied for the MDDP program, or whether the vehicle he was driving in Rolling Meadows on May 24, 2024 was equipped with a BAIID.

Police officers from Arlington Heights responded about 12:09 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2024 to an incident involving a male causing a disturbance at the Emergency Room at Northwest Community Healthcare, 800 West Central Road in Arlington Heights.
Approximately 90 minutes earlier Rolling Meadows police were investigating a possible personal injury hit-and-run crash, ranging in an area along Kirchoff Road from Hicks Road near the Marathon gas station to Plum Grove and DuPont Avenue in Rolling Meadows.
One or two crashes involved at least a gray Chrysler and a Kia. Damaged vehicles were discovered near the Marathon gas station, 4200 Kirchoff Road and near the intersection of Plum Grove Road and DuPont Avenue in Rolling Meadows.
A witness passing by near Kirchoff Road and DuPont Avenue saw a heavyset male/black subject, possibly in handcuffs, at the crash scene at Kirchoff Road and DuPont Avenue. The large male, built like a heavyweight boxer, was transported by ambulance to Northwest Community Healthcare in Arlington Heights with two Rolling Meadows police vehicles following the ambulance.
Approximately one hour later, the male transported from the Rolling Meadows crash scene, was allegedly causing a disturbance in the Northwest Community Healthcare Emergency Department. Interaction with the individual moved outside to the “Ambulance Only” bay — an area for authorized personnel where ambulances are parked while transferring patients to the hospital. The muscular, heavyweight male/black was only wearing white short — no shirt and barefoot.
At least one paramedic crew arriving with a patient in their ambulance from another village from an unrelated call was delayed for a short time off-loading their patient because of the disturbance.
Several officers arrived from Arlington Heights and Rolling Meadows were already on scene by 12:30 p.m. and were working to de-escalate the situation. The Emergency Room “Ambulance Bay” was declared closed temporarily while police were working to resolve the situation. Paramedics arriving with patients were instructed to arrive at a different entrance to the hospital.
The professional police interaction with the unruly subject was captured on video by CARDINAL NEWS. Several police officers were also wearing body cams.
At one point, about 1:25 p.m., it appeared that a Rolling Meadows police officer arrived in a silver police SUV and delivered a cellphone to an Arlington Heights police officer, who gave the phone to the heavyset male. The male was then allowed to have a conversation on the cell phone in the “Ambulance Bay” at the Emergency Department.
During the entire standoff with the male, the police did not display any intimidating body language, and were carefully listening — even at times when the unruly subject advanced his face just inches from police officers’ faces while yelling at them. There appeared to be some slight shoving, contact, or near contact by the subject with police officers. It was when the subject chest-butted a hospital security employee that police detained the male, and handcuffed him with double-linked handcuffs. The male subject did not resist when he was handcuffed. He was then transferred to an Arlington Heights police SUV, and transported to Arlington Heights Police Department headquarters. Although, initially there is no official announcement from the Arlington Heights Police Department, the subject was likely — at a minimum — charged with some type of battery.

The “Ambulance Bay” was re-opened for full service for the ambulances by about 1:40 p.m. Friday.
