A Harvard, Illinois woman was killed in a rear-end crash with a truck on I-90 EAST at a location where several fatal rear-end collision have occurred.
Illinois State Police and firefighters and paramedics from Schaumburg responded about 8:45 a.m. and 8:47 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2024 to a report of a serious crash involving a passenger sedan and a semi-trailer truck on I-90 EAST at the 66.75 Mile Marker. Lane 5 was blocked with the crash involving a red sedan partially under the tandem trailer of the semi-trailer truck.
An Illinois State Police trooper discovered the crash at about 8:45 a.m. The trooper reported that the crash victim in a red passenger car was deceased in the car.
Firefighter/paramedics worked with extrication tools to free a female driver from a crashed vehicle. The driver was entrapped in her red Ford Focus.
Aimee C. Simmons, age 51 of Harvard, Illinois, was driving her red Ford Focus in the shoulder lane of I-90 EAST at about 8:40 a.m. when she rear-ended a black Peterbilt semi-tractor-trailer with a tandem trailer that was stopped in traffic congestion.
Mile Marker 66.75 is located just west of the Meacham Road overpass, and is a location of frequent fatal rear-end collisions.
