Good news from Prospect Heights announced yesterday, May 9, 2024: The Board of Fire Commissioners has approved a new testing process to establish an Eligibility List to fill full-time firefighter-paramedic vacancies.
There are two immediate openings for firefighter-paramedic, and according to the Prospect Heights Fire District, it is likely there will be at least one more opening this year.
Applications are due by Saturday, June 8, 2024 at 4:00 p.m.

Friday, June 14, 2024 at 9:00 a.m.

Please note that while you must be 21 years of age to accept an offer of full-time employment, there is no age restriction to apply and test.
Starting annual salary is $68,401, and salary after five years is $101,039.
With the current collective bargaining agreement expiring at the end of this year, Fire Chief Drew Smith anticipates that negotiations will result in higher wages.
Full-time firefighter-paramedics that are considering retirement from another department, and would consider taking a job with Prospect Heights Fire District, will start at Prospect Heights as TIER 1 if they are TIER 1 in the pension status at the other department (as law requires).
