Investigation of motorcycle crash with car on Higgins Rd west of Meacham Rd Schaumburg. YouTube Tips ⓘ
Police, firefighters and paramedics from Schaumburg responded about 7:16 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2024 to a report of a motorcycle crash with a car on Higgins Road west of Meacham Road in Schaumburg.
A caller reported that the unresponsive motorcyclist was thought to have died in the crash. However, the motorcyclist is believed to have survived at least the first 24 hours following the crash.
Higgins Road was closed in both directions between Meacham Road and National Parkway during the crash rescue and investigation.
There was a motorcycle down on Higgins Road in the eastbound lanes northwest of the Verizon building, and there was a white BMW in the westbound lanes of Higgins Road south of Chase bank.
The white BMW, facing, westbound, did not show any visible damage on inspection from over 50 feet. Also, the motorcycle, facing eastbound, did not appear to be severely damaged. The direction of travel of the vehicles at the time of the crash was unknown.
Higgins Road is a six-lane roadway with two left turn lanes from eastbound Higgins Road to northbound Meacham Road near the crash scene. Higgins Road has a narrow curbed median near the crash scene location. The Speed Limit is 40 MPH according to Google maps Street View images captured August 2022. There was no precipitation at the time of the crash, and the air temperature was 71°F at 6:51 p.m. Thursday, according to the NWS Chicago weather station at O’Hare International Airport.
