Glenview police officers arrived at the Hancock Square at Arlington Station apartments Wednesday, May 1, 2024 and arrested a resident of the Arlington Heights apartment complex, who is accused of hitting a man with a gun at a Motel 6 in Glenview in April 2024. The victim was over 60 years-old.
Glenview police officers and Glenview Fire Department paramedics responded at 9:51 p.m. April 14, 2024 to Motel 6, 1535 Milwaukee Avenue in Glenview to a report of an aggravated battery. The victim, who had been struck in the head with a firearm, was transported to a hospital for medical treatment and released. Glenview Police Department opened an investigation of the attack.
As a result of the investigation, suspect Dirk Hugo, age 47, of 200 North Arlington Heights Road, was arrested by Glenview police officers on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 outside the Hancock Square at Arlington Station apartment complex near Arlington Heights Road and Miner Street.

reckless driving (speeding over 120 MPH on Route 53 in April 1999), and
unlawful use of a weapon (firing a weapon outside an Arlington Heights apartment near the residence of a man dating Hugo’s ex-girlfriend in 2011).
Hugo previously lived in the block of 1500 North Harvard Avenue in Arlington Heights and in Palatine when these older crimes occurred.
While serving his 10-year sentence for the unlawful use of weapon case in Arlington Heights, Dirk Hugo was charged with intimidation or threats, dangerous communications, and insolence following improper comments he made to a nurse in front of other inmates at the Western Illinois Correctional Center on November 16, 2017. He was found guilty of the three charges and transferred to Pickneyville Correctional Center, where he was segregated and mostly confined to his cell for three months.
