Palatine Police on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, arrested and charged 21-year-old Manuel Gil of the 1000 block of East Lilac Drive with one count of Attempted First Degree Murder, a Class X Felony. The arrest stems from an incident that took place in October 2022, in which Palatine Police responded to the report of shots fired in the 1300 block of North Baldwin Court in Palatine. No injuries were reported during the incident, but a firearm was recovered, along with multiple bullet fragments and shell casings.
After an extensive investigation by Palatine Police Department Detectives, the case was presented to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, who approved one count of Attempted First Degree Murder against Manuel Gil. The suspect, Manuel Gill, was transported to the Cook County 3rd District Courthouse in Rolling Meadows on April 11, 2024 for a Detention Hearing.
In addition to Manuel Gil, 20-year-old Joe M. Zoyohua, of the 3400 block of Mary Avenue, Park Ridge, and a male juvenile, were also arrested and charged in connection to this incident.
Zoyohua was charged with one count of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, a Class 4 Felony. Zoyohua was transported to the Cook County 3rd District Courthouse in Rolling Meadows on April 11, 2024 for a Detention Hearing.
The male juvenile was charged with one count of Attempted First Degree Murder, a Class X Felony, and transported to the Audy Juvenile Detention Center in Chicago on April 11, 2024.
