Garden Hose vs Pre-Connect Line on an outdoor branch pile fire in Arlington Heights; and the winner is the Pre-Connect Line. YouTube Tips ⓘ
Police, firefighters, and paramedics from Arlington Heights responded about 6:06 p.m. Sunday, April 21, 2022 to a report of a outside fire in a backyard in the block of 800 North Beverly Lane in Arlington Heights. Firefighters received a report that flames involving a pile of branches were getting larger and were threatening large trees overhead.
A citizen put water on the fire with a garden hose, and when firefighters arrived, they initially put water on living shrubs and/or other property adjacent to the fire to protect those shrubs on the property. Other firefighters brought a pre-connect hose line connected from the side of Fire Engine 2 to the backyard, charged the line, and worked to extinguish the fire.
There was a utility pole with lines nearby, but none of the utilities were immediately threatened, and the fire was extinguished without further incident.
Apparently, nothing of significant value was damaged or destroyed.
The Battalion Chief was assigned to the scene. However, it was unknown if the fire was intentionally set to burn vegetation, and it was unknown if any citations were issued.
The information in this article is an early report published before any summary information was confirmed or released by police or fire authorities or witness on the scene.
