Wheeling Police Department announced yesterday, Monday, March 4, 2024 that a suspect, Wayne M. Frazier, has been arrested in a strong arm robbery case that occurred on Valentine’s Day, Wednesday, February 14, 2024 in the parking garage of Uptown 500 Apartments, 500 West Dundee Road in Wheeling, where the victim lives.
The robbery developed when two offenders followed the victim to her apartment from a bank in Buffalo Grove. Allegedly, Wayne M. Frazier and the other suspect confronted the victim in the parking garage and threw her to the floor. The victim suffered minor injuries and the offenders fled with cash and the victim’s cell phone.
Video evidence was discovered that was shared with other police departments, and Wheeling Police Department investigators were able to positively identify Wayne M. Frazier as one of the assailants, and an arrest warrant was sought and approved. Wayne M. Frazier, age 26, of the block of 2600 West Gladys in Chicago, was arrested during the early morning hours of Sunday, March 3, 2024 when Riverwoods Police Department police officers discovered the suspect in a traffic stop for an unrelated matter. Frazier was taken into custody during the traffic stop pursuant the warrant, and was custody was transferred to the Wheeling Police Department.
The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved one count of Robbery against Wayne M. Frazer for the alleged robbery in Wheeling. According to the Wheeling Police Department, charges are also pending connected to similar offenses in Arlington Heights, Berwyn and Summit. Wayne M. Frazier was transferred to Central Booking in Chicago for a Bond Hearing.
Meanwhile, Frazier was held “NO BOND” and was housed at Cook County Jail DIV6-2L-16-1.
Wayne M. Frazier has upcoming court dates on March 6, 2024 at the Cook County Circuit Court Rolling Meadows, and on March 12, 2024 at the Cook County Circuit Court in Maywood.
Arlington Heights Police Department is investigating a strong arm robbery that was reported to have occurred about 1:11 p.m. Friday, January 26, 2024 at 429 West Northwest Highway in Arlington Heights at Metra Commuter Lot P. The female victim reported that two unknown subjects approached her as she exited her vehicle at Metra Commuter Lot P, and stole her purse which contained credit cards and cash. The offenders fled in a gray or black SUV.
The Arlington Heights Police Department has not indicated whether Wayne M. Frazier is the suspect in this case.

Wheeling police responded about 2:00 PM Wednesday February 14, 2024 to a strong arm robbery in a parking garage at 500 West Dundee Road Wheeling, IL. Police received a report of a strong arm robbery in the parking garage at the Uptown 500 Apartments. Two male/black offenders took cash, credit cards, a driver’s license, and an Apple iPhone from the victim.
The offenders were described as two male/black robbers about 25 years-old with dark hair and brown eyes. Both were wearing dark clothing, and one was wearing a black hoodie.
The offenders fled in a dark Infinity, possibly an X35 (or X45) 4-door with no front license plate. The offenders in the Infiniti were last seen eastbound on Dundee Road from the scene.
The crime is reported to have occurred at 2:00 p.m.
