Police, firefighters and paramedics from Arlington Heights responded about 12:30 a.m. Sunday March 10, 2024 to a report that a Metra train on the Union Pacific Northwest Line hit a pedestrian in the block of 1300 West Northwest Highway in Arlington Heights.
Outbound Metra train #735 was stopped near Northwest Highway and Yale Avenue after hitting the male adult pedestrian near Northwest Highway and Harvard Avenue in Arlington Heights.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, which was located between the downtown Arlington Heights Metra station and the Arlington Park Metra station, where there are no pedestrian crossings or walkways.
Metra police were assigned to the scene for the investigation. There were no passenger injured on the train, which was due to arrive in Crystal Lake at 12:55 a.m.
