Police, firefighters and paramedics from Buffalo Grove responded about 10:31 p.m. Wednesday, February 21, 2024 to a report of a house fire in the block of 2100 Brandywyn Lane in Buffalo Grove. A neighbor reported flames showing from a house on the next street.
Firefighters arrived to discover flames showing from the second floor of a 2-story home. The fire department response was upgraded to a ‘working fire’ response by about 10:35 p.m.
No injuries were reported.
Fire radio communications indicated firefighters used a deck gun to knock back flames at the home, which was known to be a home under renovation. The home was unoccupied, and much or all of the second floor did not have dry wall installed, which apparently contributed to rapid extension of fire in the home.
The back of the home was open, and the burnt frame was visible and exposed.
The house directly south of the property sustained heat damage to the siding.
Buffalo Grove firefighters set up the aerial tower as fire on the second floor and attic immediately flared up when firefighters stopped flowing water from the first phase of fire attack. Interior fire attack was limited because of extra risk to firefighters.
Water supply was strong, and the fire, which had a strong start before firefighters arrived, was effectively extinguished from a large volume of water from the aerial stream of the Buffalo Grove tower ladder.
Firefighters from Arlington Heights, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, Long Grove, Prospect Heights, Wauconda and other fire agencies assisted Buffalo Grove firefighters.
The Buffalo Grove Mobile Com crew and van with support and situational awareness facilities was also on scene.
The same house was involved in a fire that displaced the family that lived there on Thursday, August 25, 2022. There were no injuries reported in the house fire in August 2022.
Another house in the block of 1300 Brandywyn Lane sustained damage on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 when lightning was suspected to have started a fire on the roof.
