Police, firefighters and paramedics responded about 6:24 p.m. Monday, February 19, 2024 to a report of a stabbing involving a knife in the block of 200 Walton Street in Barrington.
Police were first on the scene of a 2-unit condo building, and discovered a male in his 60s bleeding from a wound caused by a sharp object. The scene was immediately determined to be secure, and paramedics began treating the victim. Two additional victims were discovered and a second ambulance was assigned to the scene at 6:34 p.m. A third ambulance was assigned to the scene at 6:47 p.m. All injuries are initially described as non-life-threatening. Police did not confirm whether the other two EMS calls assigned to the location involved another stabbing, a non-penetrating injury, or another type of EMS type of call.
Barrington-Countryside and Palatine firefighters and paramedics assisted Barrington Fire Department at the scene. A Rolling Meadows Fire Department ambulance was also assigned to stand by in a Barrington fire station to cover other potential emergency calls in Barrington Monday night.
No charges were announced. A fourth person was taken into custody, but according to the Barrington Police Department, charges were pending.
Police did not confirm whether a knife was used, and did not confirm whether a knife was recovered. The Barrington Police Department was sorting out the details of the incident, which they are initially describing as domestic related.
The investigation included the inside of both of the two townhouse units. Police did not set up crime scene tape, and the major crimes scene investigative team was not assigned to the scene. However, Barrington police personnel continued to investigate the scene past 9:30 p.m.
A neighbor said that the residents that live in the townhouse building are Asian, and relatives might live in both units. Owners with different last names own the two townhouse units, according to Cook County records.
