Police officers and fire department paramedics from Arlington Heights responded about 3:00 p.m. Thursday, February 8, 2024 to a report of a disturbance near Olive Mary-Stitt Elementary School, 303 East Olive Street in Arlington Heights.
Several witnesses reported an incident of disorderly conduct to CARDINAL NEWS, describing that a male adult was allegedly confronting adults and children near the elementary school near Olive Street and Belmont Avenue. The male adult, about 60 or 70 years-old was reported to have been allegedly confronting people in their “personal space” while speaking into a pink bullhorn, and activating a siren that was on the bullhorn.
A person at Olive Mary-Stitt Elementary School called 9-1-1 and reported the disorderly conduct.
Police and paramedics caught up with the man on Belmont Avenue about 100 yards north of Olive Street — near the Orchard Evangelical Free Church. Police spoke with the man for a few minutes.
The man appeared to be friendly, but was not cooperating with police officers. When police officers asked where the man lives, he walked away, smiling. He walked on the sidewalk southbound on Belmont Avenue, then westbound on Olive Street, and then southbound on the east sidewalk along Arlington Heights Road. He continued to his house a few blocks further south of Olive Mary-Stitt Elementary School.
The man was wearing a blue Cubs baseball batting helmet, a brown or green winter coat, a brown or green hoodie, a brown scarf, blue jeans and brown gloves. He may have been carrying a clipboard, as well as the pink bullhorn.
Police are familiar with the man, from previous incidents involving the man over several years.
