Hotel in Oak Brook Terrace Locked Down After Shooting Inside the Hotel

One man was shot and three people were detained for investigation of a shooting that wounded one man in the Hilton Suites hotel high-rise in Oak Brook Terrace Saturday night. The gunshot victim suffered life-threatening injuries.

Oak Brook Terrace police responded about 8:32 p.m. to a report of shots fired and Oak Brook fire protection district firefighters and paramedics responded about 8:38 p.m. Saturday, December 3, 2023 initially to the Hilton Garden Inn, 1000 Drury Lane in Oak Brook Terrace. At about 8:32 p.m., police received a report of shots fired in the hotel lobby after an argument (not confirmed which lobby –Hilton Garden or Hilton Suites).

The incident address was updated to the Hilton Suites high-rise at 10 Drury Lane, where a gunshot victim was reported to be located on the seventh floor on the east side of the hotel. People had also called 9-1-1 to report hearing shots fired on an upper floor of the Hilton Suites.

Police located inside the hotel confirmed that a male gunshot victim was located on the seventh floor, and the hotel was immediately placed on lockdown. No people were allowed in the hotel or out of the hotel, and the parking lots and the property were also locked down. The initial report was that the shooter may still have been at large at the scene when police, firefighters and paramedics arrived. Initially police did not know where the shooter was located.

CPR was administered to the gunshot victim, and the victim was transported Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.

Initially, police were looking for two female suspects connected to the shooting — a female black wearing a brown top, and a possible accomplice wearing a pink bikini.

SWAT was assigned to check and/or clear every room of the hotel.

Two females and a male were detained for investigation of the shooting by about 9:00 p.m. Possibly one heavy-set female remained at large.

A fourth person, described as a female suspect in the case, was also taken into custody in the hotel about 9:23 p.m. A weapon was also recovered at that time, and at the location where the female suspect was taken into custody.

The Hilton Suites hotel is located near the Route 38 and Butterfield Road interchange east of Route 83, and just north of the Oakbrook Terrace Tower.

Incoming hotel guests were not permitted inside the hotel to check-in. Also, hotel guests that were already checked in, who had left the hotel prior to the shooting, were not allowed back in the hotel late Saturday night.
