Police officers, firefighters and paramedics from from Mount Prospect responded about 5:06 p.m. Sunday, November 19, 2023 to a report of an armed barricaded subject that was located in a garage at a single-family home in the block of 1000 Lavergne Drive in Mount Prospect.
There were no hostages reported.
An initial report to police indicated a male adult was in a garage with shots fired. Mutual aid police officers from neighboring communities were assigned to the scene. NIPAS and ILEAS assignments were on scene. A NIPAS Bearcat armored truck, a command van and a utility van were assigned to the scene.
Nearby neighbors were advised/ordered to shelter in place via reverse 9-1-1.
The Mount Prospect Police Department notified the community via Facebook with the following message …
“Officers are currently in the 1100 block of Lavergne Drive with an armed and barricaded subject. There is currently heavy police presence in the area. Residents who are impacted by the situation have been notified. Please stay clear of the area to allow officers to focus on the barricaded subject.”

The scene was secured by approximately 7:34 p.m. Mount Prospect Fire Department paramedics were given the OK by police to move up to the scene for patient contact. The subject was safely in custody by 7:34 p.m., according to the Mount Prospect Police Department.
