Palatine Police Department on November 8, 2023 charged James King, age 31, of the block of 200 West Happfield Road in Arlington Heights, with two counts of child abduction, and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse — all counts are Class 4 felonies. The charges are in response to two incidents that took place on October 31, 2023 and November 6, 2023.
During the morning hours of October 31, 2023 and November 6, 2023, King allegedly approached two separate high school age female victims who were walking to school in the northeast area of Palatine. James King was driving a black Lexus SUV as he pulled alongside each of the female victims, who each walking by themselves on each day. He enticed each with cash as he attempted to talk them into getting into his vehicle. One girl did get into his vehicle and was sexually abused by King before he dropped her off at school.
At approximately 6:00 a.m. on November 7, 2023 following an intense investigation into the two cases, Palatine Police Department detectives apprehended James King. After reviewing the facts of the case with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, King was charged.
On November 9, 2023, King was transported to the Cook County Third District Courthouse in Rolling Meadows for a detention hearing.
The Palatine Police Department asked that if anyone has had contact with James King, or has experienced a similar incident, they are encouraged to call 911 and report information to the police.
