Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 11:36 PM Monday November 13, 2023 to a report of a vehicle fire at Mitsuwa Marketplace 100 East Algonquin Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police, firefighters and paramedics received a report that a van was on fire in the back alley of Mitsuwa Marketplace at the northeast corner of Algonquin Road and Arlington Heights Road.
The van was fully-involved with fire, and the fire was threatening to spread to the back of the large retail commercial building. The Mitsuwa Marketplace building is about 320 feet by 200 feet.
Firefighters discovered the fully-involved van fire in the back alley at the northwest corner of the building. The fire was quickly extinguished, and firefighters check for extension of fire and heat damage inside the building. No heat damage or fire damage to the building was reported. Mount Prospect firefighters checked the inside of the building while Arlington Heights firefighters worked at the van fire outside.
The majority of firefighters returned to their fire stations after about 30 minutes, but one crew and the Battalion Chief worked for over an hour on overhaul of the fire scene.
