Police, firefighters, and paramedics from Lake Forest responded about 10:58 a.m. Friday, October 27, 2023 to a report of a traumatic injury at a construction site at 300 North Green Bay Road. Upon arrival, crews found a construction worker in the bottom of a basement foundation under construction, approximately 15 feet below grade. A concrete form had fallen from scaffolding and struck the victim, causing a back injury.
The trench rescue was near the Onwentsia Club Golf Course, 300 North Green Bay Road in Lake Forest.
A Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) response was requested for a person injured in a trench. The patient was treated and prepared for removal from the trench by Lake Forest Fire Department paramedics. Trench rescue techs from neighboring departments and fire districts assisted in the rescue and removal of the victim, who was transported to Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital. Fire department and/or fire district personnel from Deerfield, Lake Bluff, Lincolnshire, Highland Park, Libertyville, Northbrook, Wheeling, Newport, Buffalo Grove, and Grayslake were assigned mutual aid assistance for Lake Forest Fire Department.
