Police and firefighter/paramedics from Niles responded about 4:40 a.m. Wednesday, October 18, 2023 to a report of a hit-and-run crash at the intersection of Sherman Road and Hamilton Drive in Niles.
Police officers arrived and discovered that a bicyclist was injured when he was hit by a hit and run driver. The bicyclist was treated and transported by Niles fire department paramedics to Lutheran general hospital with injuries that initially appear to be non-life-threatening.
The police investigation revealed that a 63-year-old male bicyclist, was traveling northbound on Sherman Road, when he was struck from behind by Ed, the driver of a black SUV type vehicle that was also traveling northbound on Sherman Road.
