According to the Elk Grove Village Police Department, after an initial search, there was no indication to believe the two remaining suspects were still in the area, and the local search was terminated.

The Elk Grove Village Police Department did not reveal what time police officers determined the suspects were no longer in the area. The police department also did not indicate how they knew that the “at large” suspects were not a threat to the community.
The Facebook message from the Elk Grove Police Department also explained that “not all incidents warrant public alerts, and we strive to balance our mission to ensure the safety of the public with the desire of residents to be informed when there is visible activity in the community.”
