Police, firefighters and paramedics from Arlington Heights responded about 7:39 p.m. Saturday, August 5, 2023 to a report from a male caller that he shot his wife and a pet inside a house in the block of 300 W. Campbell St. in Arlington Heights just west of downtown Arlington Heights.

Police surrounded the house with most police officers at the front door. A witness said he heard shots fired from inside the house while the police were standing outside close to the front door. The witness said he heard two shots fired.

Police warned occupants inside the house not to make any sudden moves, and then entered the house to secure the scene inside.

Within a minute or two police officers asked firefighters and paramedics that were staging down the street to rush into the house. Paramedics, then brought out an adult male on a stretcher, transferred him to the ambulance, and then transported him to Level 1 Trauma Center Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.

There was initially a wide perimeter with police tape encircling about a half block area. After the male adult was transported to the hospital, the perimeter was brought closer to the house, and police appeared to be protecting the house for evidence. No other people were brought outside the house as of 12:45 a.m. Sunday.
