Rollover crash at Kensington Road and Waterman Avenue, Arlington Heights; and no paramedic transports — refused by crash victims. YouTube Tips ⓘ
Police, firefighters and paramedics from Arlington Heights responded about 7:42 p.m. Thursday, August 3, 2023 to a report of a rollover crash with injuries and entrapment at Kensington Road and Waterman Avenue in Arlington Heights.
The first fire crew on arrival reported a vehicle on its side with no entrapment. The driver may have exited out the sunroof, where the glass was cut and removed — presumably by firefighters. Initially it was unknown who cut the sunroof glass.
The crash involved a silver BMW sedan and a white Subaru SUV, which was the vehicle that rolled to the passenger side. The BMW had severe front-end damage.
The male driver of the BMW was assessed by paramedics, but was not transported paramedics. The female driver of the Subaru was also not transported by paramedics.
Although police did not speak about the cause of the crash, it appeared the driver of the BMW was westbound on Kensington Road, but by observation of the vehicles at rest, it was not possible to be certain which direction the Subaru was driven before the crash.
The crash scene was affecting traffic in both directions on Kensington Road with a full road closure. The eastbound lane was re-opened first, but at least three westbound motorists tried to pass the crash scene in the eastbound lanes. They were stopped by police. One motorist made it past the crash scene on the wrong side of the road, and was stopped by police, who checked the driver’s license record (shown on video). It did not appear that the motorist got a citation or moving violation.
