Police, firefighters, and paramedics from Schaumburg responded about 11:56 p.m. Wednesday, August 16, 2023 to a report of a crash with injuries and entrapment at Roselle Road and Central Road in Schaumburg.
Police were first on the scene and reported a crash victim entrapped in a Lexus sedan with a door that wouldn’t open. The crash victim appeared seriously injured and police called for Schaumburg Fire Department paramedics to expedite. Police, firefighters, and paramedics discovered a crash involving the Lexus and a black Cadillac Escalade. Firefighters on arrival reported heavy damage involved with both vehicles.
The driver of the Lexus was transported to Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.
The driver of the Cadillac Escalade was initially not found at the immediate scene, and was presumed to have fled the scene or walked away disoriented. The driver was found, but it was initially unknown whether Schaumburg Fire Department paramedics transported the driver of the Escalade to the hospital or whether he or she was held by police.
Schaumburg Fire Department Squad 55 was assigned to provide lighting for the scene at about 12:53 a.m. Thursday. Hanover Township Emergency Services provided traffic control assistance overnight, and the Illinois State Police and Tollway authorities shut down the ramp from I-90 WEST to northbound Roselle Road (the location of Tollway Plaza 12). Hanaver Township Emergency Services was not initially available because they were on scene at a serious crash in Carol Stream.
