A new neighborhood bar is about to open overlooking the downtown Arlington Heights Metra train station — just outside the Arlington Alfresco perimeter. Downtown Arlington Heights dining keeps getting better, and the Bird’s Nest pub at 11 West Davis Street is the latest highlight to the successful dining neighborhood in the northwest suburbs. There is anticipation for Bird’s Nest first day open in Arlington Heights at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 1, 2023.
The front door of the new Bird’s Nest is just 250 feet from the Arlington Heights Metra train station at 45 West Northwest Highway. Bird’s Nest in Arlington Heights is the second location for the dining and drinking enterprise. The original Bird’s Nest chicken wing restaurant and neighborhood sports bar is located at 2500 North Southport Avenue in Chicago. The original Bird’s Nest was established in 1995, and is located near the Monkee’s Paw and the Broken Barrel Bar — a few blocks west of DePaul University.
Internal and exterior development at the new site — the former location of Dunton House restaurant — began around May 19, 2023. Initially, the most noticeable feature was the new open air windows at the front of the business that will be open on days with nice weather.
Now with opening just a couple of days away, the Bird’s Nest noticeable feature that it is loaded with televisions on the west interior brick wall, and near the bar at the east wall. There are also several televisions suspended from the ceiling in the center of the establishment.
The restaurant won’t have the exact features as the Lincoln Park location, but the Arlington Heights location is expected to be a neighborhood sports bar with indoor and outdoor dining. The interior in the Arlington Heights location has the look and feel of a modern neighborhood Chicago bar. The outdoor dining plans were still being developed, and there were no signs of outdoor dining on Wednesday, August 30, 2023.
The official Bird’s Nest website (www.birdsnestbar.com) or the Facebook page didn’t mention the Arlington Heights location as of Wednesday evening. The Arlington Heights menu is expected to initially be similar to the Chicago location, but might change to adjust to local preferences.
The Lincoln Park location is famous for wings, but there are a wide variety of items on the menu.
The Chicago location has a long list of Appetizers, including Chicken Skewers, Stuffed Mushrooms, Fried Mushrooms, Hummus And Veggie Plate, Artichoke Dip And Veggie Plate, Cheesy Garlic Bread, Onion Rings, French Fries, Stuffed Peppers, Ballpark Nachos, Nachos, Pulled Pork Nachos, Quesadillas, Chili Freeze Fries, and Victory Sticks (breaded mozzarella sticks served with tangy marinara for dipping).
Chicken Wing options include Birds Nest hot sauce, hot BBQ, BBQ, Teriyaki, Hot Teriyaki, and Honey Barbecue.
Also on the Chicago menu, there are a variety of sandwiches available, including Panini sandwiches. Burgers including a Turkey Burger, are included in the Sandwich category. The Bird’s Nest Burger looks interesting, and so does ‘The Don’ (Cajun chicken breast rolled in Bird’s Nest Hot-BBQ sauce and topped with bacon, and served with lettuce, tomoato, and onion).
There are also plenty of wraps and pizzas on the menu at the Chicago location.
It will be interesting to see the menu for the Arlington Heights location.

Now there’s one more establishment to add to the fine dining and nightlife in downtown Arlington Heights, and this Bird’s Nest establishment is the easiest to access from the Metra train.
