Lisle-Woodridge Fire District firefighters and paramedics responded about 6:12 p.m. Saturday, July 1, 2023 to a report of a house explosion in the block of 4500 Ivanhoe Avenue in Lisle. Firefighters arrived in about three minutes and discovered a house destroyed with an active gas-fed fire burning. No injuries were reported.
Several homes located nearby were damaged, including a 2-story house located less than 40 feet north of the destroyed home.
The home that was destroyed was a 2-story or 1 1/2-story cape code house with dormers.
Initial assessment of the scene indicates the explosion was cause by natural gas ignition. Nicor gas and ComEd electric crews were assigned to the scene to assist with hazard control.

The scene of the explosion was located just northwest of the I-355 interchange with Ogden Avenue
