Police and firefighter/paramedics from Schaumburg responded about 12:09 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2023 to a report a woman was found naked and unresponsive in her room at the MainStay Suites, 1200 Bank Drive in Schaumburg. Her body was found three days before a male she was believed to have been with was apprehended for investigation of the murder of a 10 year-old girl in Rockford. The male homicide suspect in the Rockford case is also a registered sex offender in the State of Illinois.
Schaumburg Police Department investigators have been working with the Rockford Police Department investigating a homicide and kidnapping case in Rockford with evidence that suggests that Antonio Monroe, age 44, of the block of 2000 135th Place in Blue Island, Illinois was with Natalie Negray prior to her body being discovered.
In addition, and according to the Rockford Police Department, Antonio Monroe has been charged with kidnapping, murder, and attempted murder. Rockford police officers were dispatched at about 12:07 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2023 in response to a call from a woman who advised that her six year-old daughter came home and stated that a man took her 10 year-old sister.
At approximately 12:40 p.m. Rockford police officers were flagged down by a male who reported locating an unresponsive juvenile girl outside a residence in the block of 1200 9th Avenue. Upon arrival police officers located a child unresponsive, and began administering CPR. Rockford Fire Department firefighters and paramedics arrived on the scene, treated and transported the child to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
A perimeter was immediately established and a Rockford police officer was assigned with a K-9 unit. A male suspect matching the description of the suspect near 9th street and Woodruff was located. The male suspect was identified as Antonio Monroe, and was taken into custody after a brief struggle. He was transported to a local hospital for an unrelated issue, and was released from the hospital and immediately transported by police to the Winnebago County Jail where he remains in custody.

Antonio Monroe was booked at 10:32 p.m. July 10, 2023, and is held on $5 million bond. He is 5’7″ and weighs 176 LBS. His next court date in Winnebago County is August 15, 2023 at 9:00 a.m.
According to the Illinois State Police Sex Offender Registry, Antonio T. Monroe (DOB 5/1/1979) was convicted as a Sexual Predator of a 19 year-old victim when Monroe was 31 years-old. He was convicted of Criminal Sexual Assault/Force in Peoria County.
