The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is searching for a suspect involved in a bank robbery at the Great Lakes Credit Union, 3290 North Lewis Avenue, Waukegan, IL, Waukegan, IL. Police officers from Waukegan responded about 4:03 p.m. Monday, July 24, 2023 to a report of a bank robbery, and the FBI joined in the investigation.
The suspect implied he had a gun, and presented a demand note. Initially, there were no reports of any physical injuries during the bank robbery.
Eye-witnesses and bank security cameras provided law enforcement with a detailed description of the suspect. The individual is described as a Black male with a beard and mustache and receding hairline, 20 to 40 years, 5′ 6″ and weighing about 170 LBS. At the time of the robbery, the offender was observed wearing a red pullover hooded sweatshirt with “Alabama” printed on it, a dark blue or purple T-shirt under the sweatshirt, and faded and torn dark-colored blue jeans. He was also wearing navy blue and white Jordan brand shoes, featuring the number “23” on the back heel.
The suspect reportedly fled the scene on foot. The FBI has released images from surveillance cameras showing the suspect. The Waukegan Police Department and FBI encourage anyone with relevant information or tips regarding the suspect’s whereabouts to notify the FBI at 312-421-6700 and tips.fbi.gov.
