Police from Rolling Meadows responded about 2:00 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2023 to a report of a break-in in progress in the block of 2200 Adams Street in Rolling Meadows. Approximately 11 police units were assigned, including marked and unmarked vehicles.
Upon arrival, police confirmed that one male offender kicked in a back door to the 2-story single family home while a resident was home inside. The offender then fled. The resident immediately called police, and police officers from immediately responded to the home and the surrounding neighborhood to begin a search for the suspect.
Police officers closed off the streets in the area during a perimeter search, which included searching backyards with a K-9 unit assigned.
Yellow crime scene was set up around the front yard, and police began a search for evidence.
Police also canvassed the neighborhood, asking neighbors if they saw anything suspicious. Police also asked neighbors to check their Ring cameras, Nest cameras or other security cameras for any video that may have captured an image of the suspect or the vehicle he was using.
The male offender is believed to have fled in a dark-colored SUV. Initially, no additional description of the suspect was available.
