Police and firefighter/paramedics from Allen, Texas responded Saturday afternoon, May 6, 2023 to a report of an active shooter at Allen Premium Outlets, 829 West Stacy Road in Allen, Texas.
A witness who works at the mall reported hearing 50 to 60 shots and observing broken glass, but an estimated casualty count was not initially available.
Local media is reporting that 8 or 9 victims with ages from 5 to 61 have arrived at medical facilities.
The Allen Police Department has confirmed that law enforcement is on the scene at Allen Premium Outlets. Police said an active investigation is underway, but did not acknowledge that there was a shooting. The police asked citizens to “please avoid the area until further update.”
As of 6:10 p.m. the Collin County Sheriff’s Office had not posted anything regaring the incident.
There are unconfirmed reports that multiple people have been killed and that some of the shooting victims are children.
Local media have reported the shooter is dead, authorities have confirmed that the shooter was engaged by a law enforcement officer, who was already working on an assignment at the shoopping center.
A Twitter post claims dashcam video shows the active shooter. A video shows the driver of a silver sedan getting out of the driver’ side of the vehicle after parking facing the Express Men Factory Outlet store. The shooter immediately begins shooting at pedestrians. About 50 shots are hear in the video.
In the video, the driver also shoots at pedestrians walking along the sidewalk from the direction of the H&M store. Several bodies covered with white sheets are located in front of the H&M store — as provided by aerial video.
