A quick thunderstorm brought impressive clouds, but not much lightning and only a short burst of heavy rain in the northwest suburbs of Chicagoland.
ComEd reported 68 Active Outages with 2,384 customers affected in Chicagoland at 7:36 p.m. after a quick thunderstorm rolled through the northwest suburbs about 6:15 p.m. Thursday, April 20, 2023. No outages were reported in Arlington Heights at 7:36 p.m., but a power outage involving about 32 customers was reported in the Plum Grove Estates neighborhood of Rolling Meadows in unincorporated Palatine Township. At one point over 600 customers were without power in Mount Prospect north of Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
At Quentin Road and Penny Road in the South Barrington area, a wood utility pole was snapped in half, and arcing power lines may have caused some grass to burn.
