Police, firefighters and paramedics from Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District responded about 8:30 a.m. Sunday, March 12, 2023 to a report of a vehicle crash into a strip mall storefront at Orangetheory Fitness, 2037 Milwaukee Avenue in Riverwoods with several people injured. There was also a report that a person was possibly pinned by the crashed vehicle.
Lincolnshire-Riverwoods firefighter/paramedics on arrival reported a vehicle into the building. Police, firefighters, and paramedics discovered several people injured, but none of the victims remained pinned by the vehicle when rescuers arrived. Next, medic crews from Deerfield-Bannockburn, Northbrook, and Wheeling were assigned to the scene to provide mutual aid for multiple victims. Pedestrians were injured in the crash, but none of the injuries were initially believed to life-threatening.
Three victims were transported by paramedic rescue ambulances. One victim was assessed and treated by paramedics at the scene, and refused transportation to a hospital by paramedics.
There was no structural support damage to the building, but a framed glass storefront with windows and a glass door were damaged. A board-up company secured the storefront.
