Police, firefighters and paramedics from Mount Prospect responded about 5:49 a.m. Saturday, February 25, 2023 to a report of a crash with injuries from an Automated Crash Notification system, with no response from the driver, near Algonquin Road and Busse Road in Mount Prospect. Police, firefighters and paramedics on arrival discovered a passenger vehicle crashed into the back of an IDOT snow plow truck. A young female adult was found unresponsive in the passenger vehicle, and died at the scene.
Engine 12’s crew requested a second ambulance to the scene at about 5:53 a.m. for the snow plow driver. The driver of the plow truck reported no injuries, but was transported by Mount Prospect Fire Department paramedics to a local hospital for evaluation, according to the Mount Prospect Police Department.
The Major Case Assistance Team — Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team (MCAT-STAR) investigators were on the scene Saturday morning. Eastbound Algonquin Road was closed between Dempster Street and Busse Road. The roadway was re-opened about 1:30 p.m.
Police released information that a black Ford Edge struck the back of a plow truck in the southeast bound lanes of Algonquin Road just west of Busse Road. The driver of the Ford Edge was identified as Abigail Davis, 20, of Mount Prospect. She was the sole occupant of the Ford Edge.
The investigation into the cause of the crash is still ongoing and more information will be provided when it is available. The Mount Prospect Police Department requests anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has any additional information to contact the department’s Major Crash Investigation Team at 847-818-5301.
