Police, firefighters and paramedics from Palatine responded about 7:20 p.m. Monday, December 5, 2022 to a report that a Metra train on the Union Pacific Northwest Line hit a vehicle near Brockway Street and Slade Street in Palatine.
Upon arrival police, firefighters and paramedics found debris, but no vehicle. The train is stopped in the area, but police and firefighters were unable to find a vehicle.
Paramedics walked the inside of the train to make sure no passengers were injured, and no Metra train passengers reported any injuries.
Much of the vehicle debris might be on the north side of the railroad tracks near Wilson Street. Palatine fire command summarized that the incident is a confirmed hit-and-run crash.
A Metra Alert for the Union Pacific Northwest Line confirmed that inbound and outbound train movement was halted near Palatine, after a vehicle was struck by Metra Train #658.
