Firefighters and paramedics from Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District (BCFPD) responded about 4:07 a.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2022 to a report of a house fire in the block of 21000 North Route 59 in unincorporated Barrington, Illinois, 60010. Residents heard and activated smoke alarm, and discovered smoke on the first floor.
Initial companies arrived on scene to find a 2-story single-family residence with nothing showing from outside. An interior crew upon investigation discovered a fire in the basement near the furnaces. The fire call was upgraded to a working fire response by about 4:22 a.m. Fire companies had the fire under control and extinguished in less than 10 minutes, using approximately 250 gallons of water. Firefighters checked for extension of fire, and ventilated the home to clear smoke out of the house.
No injuries were reported on scene, but the residents were displaced due to no heat in the house. ComEd was called to the scene to secure electricity at the home.
Firefighters from Barrington Fire Department, Cary Fire Protection District, Fox River Grove Fire Protection District, Hoffman Estates Fire Department, and Lake Zurich Fire Department responded for mutual aid assistance.
