Police Chief Brian Budds announced to the public at 12:31 p.m. Monday, December 5, 2022 that the evidence obtained to date indicates Andrei Kisliak is responsible for the deaths of himself and his four family members who were found deceased in their home on Acacia Terrace last Wednesday, November 30, 2022.

“Based on evidence collected at the scene, information obtained by investigators and the Lake County Coroner’s examination, the preliminary investigation indicates Andrei Kisliak (39 years old) is responsible for the homicides of Amilia Kisliak (4 years old), Vivian Kisliak (6 years old), Vera Kisliak (36 years old) and Lilia Kisliak (67 years old),” said Chief Budds. “It appears Andrei then inflicted wounds on himself and succumbed to those wounds.”

At 11:12 a.m. on Wednesday, November 30, Buffalo Grove police were dispatched to a single-family residence in the 2800 block of Acacia Terrace following a call for a wellbeing check on an adult female. Upon arrival, police were unable to make contact with anyone inside the home. Forced entry was deemed necessary, and a sweep of the home was conducted. Five deceased individuals were found. The preliminary investigation indicated this was a domestic-related incident, and there was no threat to the public.

On December 1, 2022 the Lake County Coroner’s autopsies of the five deceased showed the cause of death for all to be from sharp force injuries.

The deceased were identified as …

Andrei Kisliak, age 39
Vera Kisliak, age 36
Vivian Kisliak, age 6
Lilia Kisliak, age 67
Amilia Kisliak, age 4

“Our community is mourning, and I hope these findings help bring some closure as we continue to process this terrible tragedy,” said Chief Budds.

Chief Budds reminded the public that the investigation remains active and ongoing.

A gofundme fundraiser created on Saturday, December 3, 2022 has raised over $60,000 in one day. The fundraiser crossed over $60,000 at about 8:40 p.m. Sunday, December 4, 2022 with about 1,100 donations. The Buffalo Grove community and other groups have pulled together funds that are well over the $50,000 goal in order to help family members to be able to afford a proper memorial and burial. The victims’ family members live in Eastern Europe.

“On Wednesday our community was shaken to the core by the horrific news. Our dear friend and caring neighbor Vera and her two precious little girls Vivian (Vivi) and Amilia (Amilusha) were brutally murdered inside their home. Vera was a devoted and a loving mom to a fun loving, energetic, always smiling 7-year-old Vivi and delicate, kind, sweet 4-year-old Amilusha. She did her best to keep them safe and happy but their lives were cut too short in the most gruesome way.

“We are asking you to help us make a proper send off for Vera and the girls. Their family members, sister/aunt with a newborn baby and 87-year-old grandmother/great grandmother, live overseas. As you can imagine, they were not at all prepared for the financial burden that comes along with a proper funeral service, burial and the transportation costs as they would like to lay them to rest in their hometown. All the donations will be going to offset these costs.

“We truly appreciate all your thoughts, prayers and any support you are able to lend at this time.”

An update for the memorial service will be posted as soon as the arrangements are finalized, according to the information section of the gofundme fundraiser, “In Loving Memory of Vera Kisliak, Vivian, Amilia.” Natasha Kuzmenko was the named organizer on the gofundme page.
