Police, firefighters and paramedics from Highland Park responded about 10:16 p.m. Sunday, November 20, 2022 to a report of a crash with injuries and entrapment at Skokie Valley Road and Half Day Road in Highland Park.
Police, firefighters and paramedics on arrival discovered a crash with two wrecked vehicles with heavy damage in the northbound lanes of Skokie Valley Road north of Half Day Road. Both vehicles had severe front-end damage. One vehicle was a sedan, and one vehicle was a small SUV.
Command initially reported three patients on the scene, with one crash victim unconscious. A fourth ambulance was requested to the scene by about 10:24 p.m., and four patients were transported to area hospitals. One patient was transported to Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Condell Medical Center, one patient was transported to Highland Park Hospital, and two patients were transported to Lake Forest Hospital.
All patients were extricated by 10:49 p.m.
Police are investigating whether this crash involved a wrong-way driver and a hit-and-run (not confirmed). There was a dispatch report that there was a driver fleeing with a vehicle with a baby inside the vehicle, but this information was not confirmed.
