Police, firefighters, and paramedics from Schaumburg responded about 1:30 p.m. Monday, October 31, 2022 to a report of black smoke coming from the roof at Woodfield Mall, 5 Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg.
Firefighters discovered white smoke initially, and then also reported seeing some black smoke. Initially smoke on the roof was discovered above an area between the food court and the old Pac-Man area (currently known as Enterrium) and also possibly near the old Sears space.
About 1:45 p.m. firefighters found that the origin fire may have occurred in the Wokoholic restaurant. They were inspecting the hood system at the restaurant inside Woodfield Mall, and they are also inspecting roofing material around the vents from the food court
About 1:50 p.m. firefighters and paramedics discovered a burn victim inside the mall near the food court. The patient was transferred to an ambulance by about 1:55 p.m. No confirmation but the burn victim patient was possibly treated and released by about 2:10 p.m.
