McHenry County Sheriff’s deputies, and firefighters and paramedics from Harvard responded about 11:20 a.m. Sunday, October 30, 2022 to a report of a vehicle crash with a fire and entrapment in front of the Big Foot Inn restaurant, 11508 Route 14 in Harvard. The crash scene is just south the Illinois-Wisconsin state line. Mercyhealth MD-1 was also assigned to the crash.
One vehicle that was on fire was reported to be occupied.
Hebron paramedics were also assigned to the scene. A tender (tanker) from Walworth was also assigned as fire command reported a smoke header visible while responding to the crash. The first fire crew on arrival confirmed they had a fire at the scene of the vehicle crash.
At 11:29 a.m. fire command requested two total helicopters to the scene. REACT and LifeNet helicopters were assigned to the scene. Also, a Marengo Squad was requested for heavy extrication operation underway.
Firefighters and/or paramedics from Woodstock, Walworth, Marengo, and Hebron were assigned to the scene, at the landing zones, or for fire station stand-by coverage.
US-14 was closed between Hebron Road and State Line Road.
