COOK COUNTY, IL – A Chicago resident and registered sex offender faces child pornography charges after Sheriff’s investigators found the registered sex offender had multiple pornographic videos of children on a media memory card, Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart announced Tuesday, October 11, 2022.
At the time of his arrest on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, registered sex offender Jason Jeffries, 41, of the block of 5700 South Green Street, was on parole for a 2017 child pornography conviction. He was a registered sex offender. Jeffries was also previously convicted of aggravated sexual abuse of a minor in 2001 in Will County.
This most recent investigation of Jeffries was conducted by the Cook County Sheriff’s Police Internet Crimes Against Children Unit (ICAC) after a tip was received from the Illinois Department of Corrections, and was connected oversight of the suspect’s parole.
Jeffries was arrested after ICAC investigators determined he had 12 videos on a media memory card that contained sexually explicit material involving children between the ages of approximately 6 and 8. The investigation revealed the videos were downloaded from the internet.
On Wednesday, October 5, 2022, Jeffries appeared at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse where a judge ordered him held on a $1,000,000 D-Bond on charges of possession of child pornography with a prior conviction. Jeffries remained in custody as of October 11, 2022.
The public is reminded that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty by the government in a court of law.
