Police, firefighters and paramedics from Lake Zurich responded about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2022 to a report of a house fire in the block of 200 Hidden Creek Road in Lake Zurich.
Firefighters arrived on scene in less than five minutes, and the first responding units discovered a large amount of fire coming from the garage of a two-story, single-family residence. Firefighters began an aggressive exterior fire attack with multiple hose streams on the main body of fire coming from the garage. The homeowner was outside of the residence upon arrival and confirmed there were no other occupants inside the home.
As additional responding fire units arrived on scene, additional tasks were carried out by firefighters ensuring the fire was extinguished and that there was no fire extension into the living area of the home.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. The residence sustained significant fire damage to the garage, and smoke damage throughout the remainder of the home — leaving it uninhabitable. The preliminary estimates of fire, smoke and water damage sustained are $250,000 to the house and $150,000 loss regarding contents. There were no reports of civilian or firefighter injuries sustained during firefighting operations.
The Lake Zurich Fire Department would like to remind residents to install working smoke detectors, make an escape plan, and “practice” it. Fire related safety information is located on the Lake Zurich Fire Department Facebook page or by calling the fire prevention Bureau at 847-540-5073.
The Lake Zurich fire department received assistance through automatic aid from Barrington, Barrington-Countryside, Palatine, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, Long Grove, Mundelein, Buffalo Grove, Wauconda, Crystal Lake, Wheeling, and Countryside
