Police, firefighters, and paramedics from Highland Park responded about 5:56 p.m. Thursday, September 1, 2022 to a report of a fire at the Shell gas station at 10 Skokie Valley Road in Highland Park. Firefighters received a report that a red sedan hit “something” at the gas station and that a fire erupted at the Shell gas station. The gas pumps were shut down before firefighters arrived, and that the driver was seen exiting the car. Highland Park Battalion Chief 33 on arrival reported a fully-involved car fire with part of the gas pump knocked over. Firefighters led out with a hose line and immediately had water on the fire. The Highland Park Battalion Chief declared “fire out” by 6:05 p.m. Apparently spilled gasoline ignited on the car.
No serious injuries were reported at the fire scene. Initial report indicated that paramedics did not transport anyone from the scene.
