Police, firefighters, and paramedics from Buffalo Grove responded about 2:33 p.m. Friday, August 12, 2022 to a report that a man was trapped under a truck at Arlington Heights Road and Auburn Lane in Buffalo Grove. A truck driver was working a maintenance issue with his semi-trailer truck that was hauling a trailer in the northbound lanes of Arlington Heights Road. He was under his own Volvo truck when his legs became trapped under the wheels.
Firefighters and paramedics used cribbing and pressurized air bags to release the victim from underneath the truck under the wheels directly behind the truck cab. The extrication operation took less than 30 minutes. Firefighters also used cribbing to stabilize the truck during extrication.
Northbound Arlington Heights Road shut down by police at 2:38 PM.
Change of quarters crews were assigned to fill Buffalo Grove fire stations, but a Change of Quarters Box Alarm was not activated. Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Squad 51 and Long Grove Squad 55 were assigned to the scene for mutual aid by about 2:55 PM, but the patient was extricated by 3:01 p.m., and Squad 51 and Squad 55 crews were released from their assignment while they were responding to the scene on Arlington Heights Road just north of Lake Cook Road in Buffalo Grove.
The man was transported by Buffalo Grove Fire Department paramedics to an undisclosed hospital.
